    This week national developer Mirvac will begin construction of the beachfront Latitude Leighton Beach development, having sold more than 50 per cent of the beachside apartments.

    In a climate where some apartment projects have been pulled off the market by other developers, the start of construction of the beachfront Latitude Leighton Beach by national developer Mirvac is a significant milestone.

    Latitude Leighton Beach is a development that includes one, two and three bedroom apartments from just $545,000, and the construction phase of apartments will see the evolution of the precinct into a thriving community.

    Mirvac WA Development Director Paige Walker said Mirvac’s strategy has always been about delivering the type of product that is always in demand due to location, quality and amenity.

    “The fact that we are now in construction shows the value that buyers place in finding the right apartment for them.     David Cresp, Director at property consultancy firm Urbis, said that the 2,500 apartments sold, in new developments off the plan and in recently completed projects in 2015, highlighted that there was continuing demand for apartments in Perth.

    “Apartment market purchasers are looking for high amenity locations and want shops, cafes and restaurants to all be within an easy walk.”

    “This is true of areas such as North Fremantle and Claremont on the Park for example, where the growing amenities and community benefits can be clearly envisaged. Furthermore, national research indicates that redevelopment areas and areas where significant infrastructure is being developed benefit from structural uplift in prices and buyers who get in early often benefit from price growth as the area becomes more established.”

    Fremantle Mayor Dr Brad Pettitt said it’s an exciting time for North Fremantle as the old industrial areas located on these prime stretches of coastal land are being developed into new urban beachside precincts.

    “Leighton Beach is a beautiful stretch of coast, and as council we have been working hard over many years to facilitate the development of the area in a responsible way that protects the landscape, while providing more amenities for the community, visitors and new residents.”
