Legendary Cricketer Purchases at Latitude at Leighton Beach
There’s nothing quite like waking up to sweeping ocean views and breathing in the fresh scent of salty sea air.
Legendary Australian cricketer Graeme Wood, and his wife Angela, couldn’t agree more as they prepare to move into their Latitude Prima apartment, by Mirvac Design, on Leighton Beach in North Fremantle.
Graeme, who played 59 Tests and 83 One Day Internationals during his illustrious career from 1978 to 1989, is looking forward to joining Latitude’s seaside community, its vibrant café culture and outdoor beach lifestyle.
For Graeme and Angela, the decision to move to the coast was easy.
“We’ve always been beach people,” says Graeme. “With our children grown up we wanted to downsize and retire somewhere close to the coast.
“We already visit Leighton Beach all the time and can’t wait to make use of all the nearby bike trails.”
The couple was attracted by Latitude’s low-rise design and special features, such as its own retail outlets and central courtyards where neighbours can gather for barbecues.
“Latitude appeals to us because it’s only five levels, so there’s a cosy feel about the place and a strong sense of community,” says Angela. “Even though we’re not due to move in for another few months, we’ve already made friends with our neighbours-to-be at some of the great Mirvac hosted events.”
Graeme and Angela are looking forward to enjoying meals on their Prima apartment balconies – yes, plural!
“We initially considered a three-bedroom apartment,” continues Angela. “In the end, we decided upon the two-bedroom as it has two balconies, both overlooking the beach.
“For us, the outdoor space offers more benefits than a spare bedroom.”
Latitude presents the best of both worlds: the ultimate in relaxed seaside living, with funky cafes just a short walk away in Cottesloe and a rail connection to Perth’s CBD and Fremantle. Graeme and Angela intend to make the most of everything an active beach lifestyle has to offer.
“Being right on the train line will be a massive bonus, making it so easy to go into the city or to Fremantle,” says Angela.
“We plan to do more travelling when we retire, but ultimately, we’re looking forward to slowing down, exploring, and enjoying life at the beach.”
